Hoquiam Sunnybrook Sanitorium Halloween

I’ve been craving a bit of Halloween, but I’m not a big haunted house fan. However, I just love the little Halloween fairs, full of games and fun. This year the city of Hoquiam shut down all the planned haunted houses due to a new fire code regulations. So, instead of the Sunnybrook Sanitorium Haunted House, we were treated to the Sunnybrook Sanitorium everything but a haunted house. This meant games, prizes, and a play. Imaging high schoolers stumbling through lines, dark noisy set changes, lots of humor, and you’ll have what I experienced. I don’t think I stopped smiling the entire time. Fun and fund raising at it’s best. Go Band Geeks!

Gettin' Lucky

Okay, here’s the June header. I suppose it’s not very different from the April header, but I did learn how to use the handy dandy flare tool. I was having a hard time figuring out theme for this month. I went with something easy instead.

Fighting Ennui Header

Here’s the new header for May. Fighting Ennui since 2001! I thought it was funny.

Ikea Sunnan - Solar Work Lamp

Ikea released a series of solar lights as part of their Spring product line. I happened to be in the market for a new work lamp, and obtained the Ikea Sunnan – Solar Work Lamp. I lamp is awesome! The Sunnanvery bright, and offers a great source of white light. The battery pack is removable for easy placement in a sunny location. The light last for about 4-6 hours of usable light, and recharge times depends on the amount of available sunlight at charging time. The bendable arm makes the Sunnan Solar Light perfect for close up work, reading, or ambient light. I’m hoping that Ikea will work on releasing more solar light products. It would be great to have a Solar Christmas/Party light strand. Keeps your eyes out on your next trip to Ikea, they keep this item in the lighting department. Unfortunately, this item isn’t available on their website.

Biking

I’m in the middle of reading Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy Tan, in which she briefly mentions a bike generator used to recharge car batteries.

Of course, it got me to thinking. I should make one of those. Here are few interesting sites I found:

Bike Generator
DIY: Build Your Own Bicycle Generator
Bicycle Generator: Pedal-A-Watt Stationary Bike Power Generator
Science Shareware

Now, I can put my fat storage to use making electricity.

New Look!

Then You Discover... April 2009 Header #1

Finally, a new look. This is my first attempt at a non-photo based header. I’m hoping to change the header at least once a month to build up my Illustrator skills.
