Daiso is one of the leading 100-yen store chains, or hyakkin, in Japan. I often find myself at Daiso when I’m in need of writing utensils. They have some of the best pens for 1.50. Daiso has a mixture of products made in Japan and China, and of course the quality can usually determine where the product was made. On a recent visit, I purchased some pens, maneki neko bank, tabi, and sushi knife.

This particular Daiso shop was always staffed by Japanese ladies, but on this recent visit it was for of young Caucasian people. I wonder if this was a coincidence.
